How to sing that high note
How are you going to approach that one note or powerful run?
That’s your choice and should come from your artistic preference—not just because you can’t hit it a certain way and default to falsetto, for example.
When you have control over your voice and can draw on techniques like twang, belting, tilting, and falsetto, you can make an informed, creative decision about the sound you want to produce based on both your vocal ability and what you find beautiful.
Experimentation is key! Play around with the different techniques before you decide. Record yourself, feel the sound in your body, and listen back to what resonates most with you.
When you’re practicing, it’s fun to explore, but once you’re performing, the decision should already be made. You don’t want to be figuring that out on stage—especially if you’re nervous and under pressure to deliver. Unless, of course, you’re in a relaxed jam session where spontaneity is part of the fun! 🎶
