Please, please, please, challenge me
We’re going to put falsetto into practice in this falsetto challenge using the song Please Please Please by Sabrina Carpenter. Don’t start with the lyrics right away, begin with a simple sound instead. Try humming on an 'M' or 'N' and then gradually move toward the actual lyrics and fuller tone.
Don’t push too hard, and keep the sensation small and light in your head. Pay attention to your mouth position: experiment by keeping it more relaxed at times and more active at others, so the sound stays easy and comfortable.
Also, play a bit with the “P”,keep it soft and don’t let it pop too forcefully. If you focus too much on that “P,” you might end up singing louder than intended.
If the pitch feels too high, don’t push. Just skip that note, this song still needs to fit within your vocal range. Even if it’s a little high for you, it’s a great song for working on your falsetto.
For lower (male) voices: look for songs by male artists who sing high, like Bruno Mars. Start by humming the melody on an ‘M’ or ’N’ before adding the lyrics. And just like above, play around with your mouth position.
Most importantly, remember, you’re training your falsetto. You don’t need to belt like Bruno right away. Think 'light'!
